Toastmaster: Matt Griggs
Maylands Toastmasters continues to go from strength to strength with an impressive ratio of advanced speakers and a continued pipeline of interested and interesting guests. Last Thursday’s meeting was no different with three guests and no less than three introductory speeches from new members! Kim Walters viewed her life through the prism of her much-loved dog, Sze Howe Koh painted a picture of the challenges a non-Anglophone name can present an owner and Jenny Lim told us of her two pillars of life – physiotherapy and religion (sorry Sze you didn’t get a mention).
As well as conducting the role of Toastmaster for the evening, Matt Griggs also presented his inspirational tenth speech on completing a 4,500km mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico. Matt now enters the fast-growing cohort of members on their advanced manuals. Some attentive evaluations preceded Paul Lim as Table Topics master, throwing some interesting scenarios for selected impromptu speakers. A big congratulations to all guests for their enthusiastic participation!
